about

Hi!  I'm Addie and I'm a practicing artist based in Alaska's Mat-Su Valley.

I'm also an occasional freelance writer and teach English and writing classes at University of Alaska's Mat-Su College.

Here are some things I'm currently excited about and into:

sound solutions

I design & help create spaces that are visually interesting, unique, beautiful, and inviting, with the added advantage of mitigating unwanted echo.  I work with clients to determine the level of sound-absorption needed, provide mock-ups and design consultation, and then source the best materials for their budget.  I fabricate and install the multi-dimensional, sound-mitigatting "murals" myself on an agreed upon timeline.  Please email addiestudebaker@gmail.com for more information.  *currently booking sound panel projects for 2026*

My paper sculptures have been invited to juried exhibitions around the United States and have been collected internationally.  I like to use found and repurposed materials as much as possible in my paper work, and am always looking to highlight the unique properties of the material using the dynamism of light and shadow, often testing the structural limits of the materials and contemplating their ephemerality - their past, present, and future lives and where those overlap with ours.    *commissions open for 2026 - to see examples of commissioned work, please go here*

color & chaos

Painting and sketching are the most visceral and personal part of my art practice and something I do for my own enjoyment. When painting, I work primarily in watercolor and acrylic. My painting work has varied from large-scale indoor and outdoor murals to pieces in miniature. You can check here for upcoming exhibitions, markets, shows, and other updates.  If you're interested in browsing original pieces and prints, you can find those here, when available.

neat people doing neat things

I'm excited about art, as well as agriculture & local food movements in Alaska.  My work has been published  in Edible AlaskaAlaska Magazine, FORUM,  and others (published work listed here).
