Addie Studebaker is a multidisciplinary practicing artist based in Alaska's Mat-Su Valley who is given to writing about herself in third person on a barely-used website, as is the custom of these art-ing times.
(briiip, first person) My recent work has focused on large-scale sound panel murals, which I design and fabricate myself using sustainably-made materials, hand tools, and power tools. I purposefully do not use pre-programmed laser cutters, CNC machines, or any form of generative AI in my process and I create small artworks from the leftover materials.
I am also interested in community-centered and interactive installations that encourage real life, in-person, off-screen public engagement and invite the viewer to tap into their own innate sense of creativity and curiosity. This includes the Palmer and Wasilla Tiny Art Galleries, which I designed, built*, installed, and currently maintain.
My most personal work finds its way out in the form of paper sculptures, paintings, collage, experimental and mixed/multi-media pieces.
...I am also a mom of 4, an occasional freelance writer, and teach English and writing classes for University of Alaska.
